England - Peak District to Yorkshire Dales

Bolton Abbey, the village, takes its name from the ruins of the Augustinian monastery that dates back to the 1100s called Bolton Priory. The priory was ordered closed in 1539 by King Henry VIII during the period known as the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
